2000-Outdoor- Earned Most Valuable Freshman Award at team banquet...Harris has proven himself to be one of the most valuable and versatile members of Tennessee's freshman class, his All-America honor providing testimonial to the fact...Harris was tabbed the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Co-Freshman of the Year with Mississippi State's Pierre Brown...In just three decathlons, Harris stands seventh on Tennessee's storied all-time decathlon list...A decathlete by trade, Harris has stepped in to help the Vols in everything from the high jump to the 4x400M relay...Harris staked his claim as the next great Tennessee decathlete by taking fourth place and an All-America certificate at the NCAA Championships in just his third career decathlon...At the NCAAs, Harris piled up a career-best 7,651 points en route to fourth place to tie for Tennessee's second-highest scorer for the meet...With Harris' performance at the NCAA Championships, he broke UT's freshman decathlon record, previously 7,576 points by Lawrence Johnson in 1993...Between Harris and teammate Boris Kawohl, half of the nation's top four decathletes at the NCAAs wore orange and white...At the NCAAs, Harris notched first and second day PRs along with decathlon PRs in the long jump, 400M dash, 100M hurdles, javelin, 1500M run, pole vault and high jump...Harris earned his ticket to the NCAA Championships via his 7,313-point performance to garner third in the SEC Championships decathlon (May 12), in just his second time to compete in the event...In the SEC decathlon, Harris won the high jump and finished third in a field of 21 in the 400M dash and the 1500M run...Harris earned his first provisional mark in his first decathlon, a fourth-place, 7,293-point effort at the Florida Relays (March 23)...At Florida, Harris won the high jump and finished second in the 100M dash, 400M dash and the 1500M run...Harris unselfishly stepped in when the injury bug bit the Vol 4x400M relay team at the SEC Championships...At the SECs, Harris ran anchor on the 4x400M relay team that earned fifth place in 3:07.13, Tennessee's fastest time in the event at that point of the season...The versatile Harris has found his way onto the Tennessee outdoor season top four list in five categories (100M dash, 400M dash, high jump, long jump and decathlon)...Harris won the open high jump at the Sea Ray Relays (April 14) in Knoxville with a PR clearance of 7-1...Scored in three events (high jump-third, long jump-third and 400M dash-seventh) at the SEC Quad (April 1).
Indoor- Harris earned fourth with 3,761 points to finish fourth at the Virginia Tech Pentathlon, his first time competing in the event...Harris won the high jump with a height of 6-8 in the Virginia Tech Pentathlon...Stood as one of three Tennessee high scorers with 15 points at the SEC Quad in Lexington, Ky. ...At the SEC Quad, Harris scored in the long jump (third), high jump (fourth) and the 400M dash (fifth)...Finished 12th in the high jump by clearing 6-8 and 15th in the long jump with a 22-9 1/4 leap at the SEC Indoors...Soared 6-11 to take second in the high jump and leaped 22-7 3/4 to earn third in the long jump at the UT All-Comers Meet.
HIGH SCHOOL- Holds Gwinnett County Championship Meet records in the 300M hurdles (38.31), 400M dash (49.04) and the high jump (6-9)...Member of four relay teams that hold Norcross High records...Three times voted All-County in track and once in cross country...Took fifth in the state (high jump) and sixth (300 hurdles)...Holds a high school 400M dash PR of 48.98.
