2000-Outdoor- Measured a season-best leap of 49-4 1/2 at the Sea Ray Relays (April 14) to finish fourth in the open section...Jumped 48-10 3/4w at the Georgia Tech Invitational...Competed at the USA Track and Field Junior National Championships and jumped 46-0 to miss out on qualifying for the World Junior Championships...Jumped 48-11 1/2w to take 10th at the SEC Outdoors...Posted a 47-5 1/4 mark at the National Invitational Team Championships in Austin, Texas...Won the triple jump at the SEC Quad with a 48-4 1/2 measurement to give the Vols needed points. Indoor- Contributed his best triple jump of the indoor season at the Kroger Invitational (Feb. 11) in Blacksburg, Va., by leaping 48-10 to finish seventh...Marked a 48-5 1/2 effort to finish 12th at the SEC Indoors...Jumped 48-2 3/4 to stake claim to fourth place at the SEC Quad.
1999- Took top honors for the Volunteers in the triple jump last season...Best indoor triple jump mark of 48-7 1/2 came at the SEC Indoors where Mershon took seventh...Also notched a 48-7 1/2 at the IKON Invitational in Johnson City...Earned second in the triple jump at the Tennessee/Indiana/Ohio State three-way meet with mark of 47-5 3/4...Runner-up at the Virginia Tech Invitational after leaping 46-7 1/2...Outdoors, took championship at the Tennessee/Georgia/Kentucky three-way meet with leap of 46-9...Placed sixth at the Penn Relays in the triple jump...Finished 12th at the USA Junior National Championships...Career-best mark of 49-5 1/2 came at the Sea Ray Relays where Mershon took 10th...Placed ninth at the SEC Outdoors with mark of 47-2 1/4.
HIGH SCHOOL- Brings strength to the triple jump event for the Vols...State champion in the triple jump...Ran the 100M in 10.7...While at Apple Valley High, school finished conference runner-up twice...Section champs in 1998...Team finished fourth in state in 1997...Third in state in 1998...Two-time All-Conference selection...Honored All-State three years...Honored as Most Valuable Track Athlete in 1998...Selected All-Conference for football in senior year.
