KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Featuring a star-studded American record attempt and 15 schools from around the country, the 51st Tennessee Relays runs Thursday through Saturday at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium.Â
Admission is free to all sessions.
Action starts Thursday with a limited schedule. The women's heptathlon opens the meet at 10 a.m., followed by the opening of the decathlon at 10:30 a.m. The hammer throw begins with the women's competition at 4 p.m. and the men at 6:30 p.m.
Individual running events highlight Friday's schedule beginning at 2:45 p.m. and field events at 3 p.m. Saturday features relays starting at noon, highlighted by a 4x100-meter relay record attempt at 2:10 p.m. by America's Team of Justin Gatlin, Christian Coleman, Ronnie Baker and Mike Rogers, sponsored by Pro Form Sports.

COMPETITION FIELD: Teams this week include: Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Ohio State, Indiana, Duke, Virginia Tech, Penn, Eastern Michigan, Southern Illinois, Middle Tennessee, Kent State, Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Pitt and Rutgers.Â
AMERICA'S TEAM: Tennessee track legends Justin Gatlin and Christian Coleman will team up with Ronnie Baker and Mike Rodgers to pursue the American record in the 4x100-meter relay Saturday at the Tennessee Relays. America's Team, sponsored by Pro Form Sports, is set to run at 2:10 p.m. The American record is currently 37.38 seconds, set in 2012 and matched in 2015.Â
SEC PREVIEW: Featuring five SEC schools, the Tennessee Relays serves as early preparation for the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which the Vols will host May 11-13.Â
FACILITY DEDICATION: On Saturday at 10 a.m., the University of Tennessee will recognize the lead donors responsible for the extensive renovations and additions at Tom Black Track.Â
In addition to the resurfacing of the track, the Boyd Family Track and Field Center, named in recognition of the gift and support from Randy and Jenny Boyd and their sons Thomas and Harrison, is a new building on the Northeast corner of the complex and houses a training room and team room on track level with concessions and fan amenities on the upper level. The Basler Broadcast Center, named in recognition of the gift and support from Wayne Basler, will provide state of the art space to meet operations, television and media activities and is located along the homestretch near Volunteer Boulevard. Â Phillips Pavilion, named in recognition of the gift and support from Sara Phillips, will serve as the team gathering location for both meets and practice and is adjacent to the Boyd Center. Â
