Vols Break Relay Record to Start NCAA Meet

MINNEAPOLIS — The Tennessee Volunteers lowered their 800-yard freestyle relay school record Wednesday to open the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
The team of Joey Reilman, Sam McHugh, Kyle DeCoursey and Josh Walsh posted a time of 6:17.11 to finish 14th overall and earn All-America honors.
The Vols had previously broken the school record last month at the SEC championships in 6:18.53.
UP NEXT: Wednesday night's session included just one event. The meet gets going in earnest Thursday at 11 a.m. Eastern (10 a.m. Central) with preliminaries for the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, the 400 medley relay and 1-meter diving. The finals are at 7 p.m. Eastern.
