CLEARWATER, Fla. – Tennessee dropped its first game of the season 3-2 to Florida Atlantic Saturday afternoon as part of the Michele Smith Pediatric Cancer Invitational at the Eddie C. Moore Complex.

Matty Moss picked up her 300^th career strikeout and pitched five innings allowing just four hits and three runs for the Lady Vols in accepting the loss.

FAU (5-4) got on the board first on solo home runs in the first and second inning by Tatum Buckley and Kelsey Morrison to give the Owls an early 2-0 lead.

Tennessee (8-1) scored a run in the top of the third when Meghan Gregg plated CJ McClain who started the inning with a double down the right-field line, and then advanced to third on a groundout by Jenna Holcomb.

Moss would shut the door on FAU following the Owls run in the bottom-half of the second in allowing just two hits.

The Lady Vols would get things going in the top of the sixth inning when Abby Lockman drew a walk and Ashley Morgan followed with a single through the left side. Katie Weimer would come in to pinch hit for the Big Orange and single through the three-four hole and score Sheridan Allen who was pinch running for Lockman.

Tennessee would tie the game at 2-all, but was unable to get anything else out of the inning.

The Owls would use a leadoff double from Emily Lochten, while a sacrifice bunt from Madisyn Palmer pushed Lochten over to third. FAU scored what proved to be the game-winning run on a fielder's choice by Buckley to give FAU the 3-2 lead.
