Lady Vols Stay Perfect With 5-1 Win vs. #15 Oklahoma State

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Senior shortstop Meghan Gregg and junior catcher Abby Lockman each had two RBIs as the No. 10 Lady Vols picked up their third win over a ranked opponent, defeating No. 15 Oklahoma State 5-1 in their opening game of the Michele Smith Pediatric Cancer Invitational at Eddie C. Moore Field in Clearwater, Florida.
Aubrey Leach got the lead-off walk to start the game and Gregg drove in her first of two runs with a triple down the right field line to score Leach. An error by Oklahoma State's Randee O'Donnell allowed Gregg to score as Tennessee (7-0) took an early 2-0 lead.
The Lady Vols would add a run in the top of the second when the Big Orange loaded the bases and Gregg came back up and got the sacrifice fly out to right field.
Oklahoma State (4-2) would get its only run of the game when Sydney Pennington homered to left field.
Tennessee would add two more runs in the top of the fifth inning when Lockman hit a double to left field and scored Chelsea Seggern and Leach to give the Lady Vols the final score of 5-1 for their seventh win in a row.
Junior pitcher Matty Moss picked up her fourth win of the season while allowing just two hits and one earned run in four innings of action.
The Lady Vols now have three victories over ranked opponents this season.
